Simple Steps of Downloading Emsigner Utility on New Tax Portal

The taxpayer should download the emsigner utility before enrollment of DSC as it is the mandatory process on the ITR portal. Let's follow a few important steps to download the emsigner utility:

Step 1: Open the income tax portal at https://www.incometax.gov.in/

Step 2: The user can tap on the 'downloads' option from the top menu.

Step 3: Press on the ‘DSC Management Utility’ option in the left panel.


Step 4: After that, you can tap on the link 'utility' (emBridge)'.

Step 5: Then the utility will be processed for downloading and the assessee can download and install it. 

Full Process for The DSC Registration in The New Govt IT Portal

Let’s try to understand how to register DSC on the new income tax portal which is recently updated by government of India.

Step 1: Go to the income tax e-filing portal at www.incometax.gov.in/

Step 2: After then click on my profile from the dashboard.
Step 3: After that, you can Go to the registration option for the Register DSC on the left.

Step 4: Fill the box with your email ID which is associated with the Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) token. After then choose the downloaded & installed emsigner utility and tap on the continue option.

Note: 

  1. Your screen will prompt ‘Your registered DSC has already expired. Please re-register a valid DSC’ if your DSC expires. 
  2. Towards re-registering the DSC tap on the view to see the information or tap on an update for renewing that. 
  3. When you are required to enroll DSC with the principal contact then tap on the email id of the principal contact enrolled on the e-filing portal and go forwards to enroll DSC. 
Step 5: Choose the provider and certificate via the drop down menu and insert the provider password tap on the sign button.


The same shall show the success message upon the successful enrollment of DSC.
