However, for the assessment year 2020-21, the highest penalty stands at Rs 5000 for furnishing ITR after 31st Dec 2021 but prior to 31st March. 

Rs 1000 would be levied as a penalty if your income is Rs 5 lakh. But if your income does not come under the taxable class then you do not need to furnish any fine on furnishing the tax returns post to the last date. But the same law is a peculiarity.

Late return undergoes an Income tax return which is filed by the assessee post losing of the last date. The assessee furnishes the late return under section 139(4) of the income tax Act. GST Collection of August 2024 Reaches INR 1.75 Lakh Crore
